How to Care for your Lashes
You can enjoy your beautiful new lashes with little need to adjust your lifestyle. Proper care and maintenance of your new Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions will ensure they remain as beautiful and luscious as they are today!
To maintain optimum appearance and extend the life of your lashes, follow these tips & easy care instructions:
- Avoid getting your lashes wet within the first 24 hours to allow the adhesive time to dry thoroughly. We recommend sleeping on your back the first night to ensure your lashes do not become tangled while drying. In the morning, use a mascara brush to gently separate and groom your Xtreme Lashes.
- Avoid hot steam from the shower and sauna as well as swimming and tanning salons altogether for the first 28 hours. After this period try to keep sauna, steam room & tanning visits to a minimum as the application of constant heat may cause the adhesive bond to weaken.
- Avoid using harsh mechanical eyelash curlers as they can break both natural and synthetic lashes. A Heated Eyelash Curler can be used sparingly to help shape and curl lashes on the TIPS of the lashes ONLY. Do not apply heated eyelash curler to the base of the lashes where the lashes are bonded.
- Avoid using any oil based cleansers on or near the eye area. Instead, use a water or gel cleanser such as the Xtreme Lashes Eye Makeup Remover and a sponge tipped applicator lint free cloth to gently remove makeup from around the eye. Do not use cotton balls, cotton rounds or swabs directly on the eyelashes as the fibers may get lodged in the bond area of the your Xtreme Lashes.
- Ask your Beauty Professional if he or she carries Xtreme Lashes Protective Coating. After the first 24 hours, you can apply Protective Coating once every 7 to 10 days to your new lashes to preserve the look and extend the life of your Xtreme Lashes. Follow the instructions on the product label for best results.
- Although mascara is not necessary with your Xtreme Lashes you can use it sparingly, on the tips only, to achieve an even more dramatic look. We strongly recommend using one of the Xtreme Lashes Mascaras which have been specially formulated for use with lash extensions. Follow the instructions outlined on the Xtreme Lashes Mascaras labels for best results. Avoid using oil based or waterproof mascara as the ingredients in it will dissolve the bond of the adhesive.
- Avoid using any oil based products on or near your lashes. Oil will dissolve the adhesive bond! Use water or gel based cosmetic products instead.
- Avoid Chemical Peels, Alpha Hydroxy, Beta Hydroxy and other highly acidic substances while wearing Xtreme Lashes Eyelash Extensions. These substances will dissolve the adhesive bond.
FAQ's about Xtreme Lashes®
What are Eyelash Extensions? Eyelash Extensions are a revolutionary new product that will provide longer, thicker, luscious and natural looking eyelashes. Eyelash Extensions are not your traditional fake eyelash strips—they are semi-permanent individual eyelash extensions. Xtreme Lashes® are applied directly to individual eyelashes for a NATURAL look and feel.

What should your eyelash extensions feel like? Your eyelash extensions should feel no different than your own lashes. The lashes are applied one-by-one individually, adhered to one of your own natural lashes. With this technique you do not feel them and they look just like your own lashes, only better! When applied correctly, they will look and feel as if they are your own eyelashes. Each synthetic eyelash is shaped and polished like a natural eyelash. The base of the eyelash is thicker than the tip and the lash is curled using the latest J-Curl or C-Curl technologies eliminating the need for an eyelash curler. Furthermore, they are extremely light weight and feel as if they are your own eyelashes.
How Long will my Eyelash Extensions Last? Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent. With proper application and simple, common sense care, Eyelash Extensions can last up to 60 days, depending on the life cycle of the individual’s natural eyelashes. Most individual’s eyelash cycles vary between 60 to 90 days. During this period, eyelashes naturally fall out in intervals. We recommend a full set for the initial application and touch ups every two to three weeks. Your Lash stylist will consult with you about how frequently you may need to come in for maintenance.

Will eyelash extension harm my own lashes? No, when eyelash extensions are done properly by applying only one individual lash to your own individual lash, using the correct lengths and thickness of lashes there is no harm done to your own lashes. In fact, many people’s lashes become healthier as a result of wearing eyelash extensions because there is no need to wear mascara or curl your lashes anymore, which is very hard on your lashes.
Can I swim and exercise with my eyelash extensions? When applied properly, semi-permanent Xtreme Lashes can last up to 2 months, depending on the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes and the expertise of the technician applying the eyelash extensions. You will probably want touch-ups every two to three weeks. Xtreme Lashes Ultra High Performance Bonding Agent is specially formulated with a unique waterproof bonding agent to last. Imitation glues may not last as long because of an inferior bonding strength. You can also purchase our specially formulated Protective Coating to prolong the life of the Xtreme Lashes. Exercising and swimming are okay after 24hours from your application, but can be more wear and tear on you lashes depending on the intensity of your work-outs.
Above all, BE GENTLE! Do not pick or pull your Xtreme Lashes and refrain from excessively rubbing your eyes.
When applied and maintained properly, your Xtreme Lashes can last up to 2 months depending on the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes and how well you maintain them. The life cycle of an eyelash is 60 to 90 days. Lashes will shed naturally at the end of their life cycle and relashes (fill ins) will be necessary every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the fallen lashes.
First 24 hour Tips: Remember that the first 24 hours are especially crucial for the bonding to properly occur! Common activities you need to avoid during the first 24 hours include showering, washing the eyes, tanning, applying creams or lotions to the eye area, applying mascara or any eye makeup, excessively touching the lashes, spas, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, exercising, contact lens solutions and sleeping on the lashes.
Daily Tips: The most common causes of Xtreme Lashes falling out before the end of your natural life cycle include excessively touching the lashes, use of oil based products, layering on excessive amounts of mascara which requires excessive cleaning, and frequent exposure to hear sources such as spas, steam rooms and tanning salons.
